I suggested this in-game but it makes sense to post it here as well. I think donors should get a world anchor so they can keep some chunks loaded. A single anchor per donor shouldn't cause lag unless everyone goes crazy with what they place in the loaded chunks.
Note that I said world anchors and not teleport tethers. Tethers are buggy and don't work well in SMP while anchors seem to be good. The only issue is that chunks won't load on server restart until a player loads them.

I looked into this last night. I totally agree with your statement, I can't seem to find a way to automate it though. I also need to decide world anchors vs. dimensional anchors.
I'm going to look up more about dimensional anchors, but if donators are happy with just me physically giving them an anchor, then this could be rolled out very soon (tonight).

I think you can use /give but you'd have to know what data value anchors have. Since the railcraft util block ID is 213 it'd be something like /give tailtide 213 1 [anchor data value]

Haha no I got that much... I meant a plugin with permissions that would allow you to craft X amount yourself. I'll just do it manually I suppose. And off hand I believe the world anchor is 213:0
This has been implemented so lock.
