I thought we needed an allowed mods post so I created one here! So far here's what I have that doesn't do really anything to the game:
Emoticons, NEI, Chat Bubbles, Optifine, MCPatcher, Any Shaders Mod.
If all those mods are ok with you gn, please say something below!

I don't want to specifically say any that are approved/disapproved. Who is to say what "features" a mod will pick up? As long as you aren't giving yourself an unfair advantage then I don't care.
The second anyone does cheat *WA-BAM* banhammer.

also i dont know what would be an unfair advantege. besides using an x ray mod or flying mod witch these are really cheap.

the smart moving mod would give you an advantage. A fair advantage would be something like optifine, which only gives you a zoom and higher FPS. Although no mods are really 'endorsed' by the server, some simple ones which allow you to see the chat differently, or things like that aren't bad. Just use common sense as to what would be an unfair advantage. Generally, such mods would change combat or how easy general things in game are.
If you are unsure, if someone is able to tell you are using a mod, it's probably an unfair advantage.
