There's quite a simple fix for this, just follow my steps exactly.
First, make sure you can see your hidden folders. Navigate to your ".techniclauncher" folder, for windows this is in %appdata%, on linux it's in your home directory (~/). Open it, navigate to "/tekkit/mods" Look for "Railcraft_Client_5.4.7b.zip" and open it. (DO NOT EXTRACT) Inside the zip, copy "/buildcraft/api" (the entire folder) Go back to "/tekkit/mods" Look for "buildcraft-client-A-core-2.2.14.zip" and open it. (DO NOT EXTRACT) Paste the copied folder into the "/buildcraft/" folder, and close it. Play normally

I pretty sure I followed it, but I tried playing again and it happened again....but instead of happening in 5 seconds, it took around 20 seconds before blanking out! This is what I did Then followed the rest of your instructions... Attachments:

Right, well.. HALP! I don't get a lot of time on Tekkit anymore because of my job and I'm receiving this error (see image). I've gone to the technic website, the launcher is still the same that I have, it checks for updates... I'm at a loss here. I followed your instructions, but that didn't seem to change anything. It's still backed up, of course. "Look for "Railcraft_Client_5.4.7b.zip" and open it. (DO NOT EXTRACT) Inside the zip, copy "/buildcraft/api" (the entire folder)" Am I deleting it from the Railcraft zip and replacing the one in the BC client core? Which is not what I did... Simply replaced the api folder in the BC core/buildcraft. Halp! Attachments:

Bax you just need to update. Select the 3.1.3 build from your launcher.

I... do not. If you can join for that long can you warp to spawn? Might be the area you are standing in.

forums.technicpack.net/threads/java-lang-nosuchfielderror-energystored.30768/Assuming you get that error. Another way is to log what happens: launch minecraft.jar with a shell script! Change '/path/to/tekkit_latest.jar' to where it is, and save it as a .sh file (tekkit.sh is mine) Launch it normally, and when you get disconnected it will come up with a big log. Press CTRL+SHIFT+A (CMD+SHIFT+A on macs?) and then CTRL+SHIFT+C (CMD+SHIFT+C?) to copy it. Next, put up the log on pastebin.comgive us the link, it'll help a lot!

Is it possible for you to explain that in more depth as im not great with followig those instructions...such as where /path/to/tekkit_latest.jar is on my mac library!

Ferris, I had exactly the same problem and the solution bob posted will fix it but isn't worded well for Macs.
1. Go to the tekkit/mods directory (which you already had in the screenshot above). 2. Extract Railcraft_Client_5.4.7b.zip and buildcraft-client-A-core-2.2.14.zip. The program you use to do this should create Railcraft_Client_5.4.7b and buildcraft-client-A-core-2.2.14 directories. 3. Delete the Railcraft_Client_5.4.7b/buildcraft/api directory 4. Move buildcraft-client-A-core-2.2.14/buildcraft/api into the railcraft directory to replace the one you deleted. 5. Delete the buildcraft-client-A-core-2.2.14 directory. 6. Delete the original Railcraft_Client_5.4.7b.zip 7. Recompress all the files in the Railcraft_Client_5.4.7b directory. DO NOT compress the Railcraft_Client_5.4.7b directory, compress everything in it and name the zip the same as the original. 8. Delete the Railcraft_Client_5.4.7b directory.
If you do it correctly the crashing should be fixed. If you get a new error when loading or trying to connect it means you compressed the new railcraft zip incorrectly or didn't copy the file into the right place.

For those of you when you get the error when you try to join and it says you need those few mods do this
1.Main tekkit login screen go to options
2. hit the bubble that says use development builds only
3.Play/login if it says update hit yes
4. Have fun
ps. Had the same issue
