So, you want to be a good merchant?
You'd best learn the ropes beforehand.
Table of Contents:
I: Shops
The key to being a merchant is, obviously, to sell things.
Creating a chest shop is free and highly automated, all you need to do is restock!
Put a sign above a chest with the following content:
<leave blank, or put your name>
<amount to sell>
B <buy price> : S <sell price> (you can do either just B or just S, if thats the case remove the colon)
<item name/ID: tekkit items NEED an ID prefixed by an X (i.e a Redstone Engine is 161 so you would write x161)>
It should look like this:
Click done and you have a chest shop!
Fill it up and people can now buy (and sell) from you.
II: Undercutting
As a merchant, undercutting is one of the biggest things you'll need to do to get guaranteed sales.
They'll always be competition! Remember that.
Never be afraid to ask what the average price is! (Don't ask where the cheapest price is, you'll ruin the economy!)
So, now we have an average price of $75. But what do we do now?
Look around for the biggest deal you can find. I found some solar panels for $45!
Way too cheap. Undercutting that is madness!
From here, you can do one of 2 things:
Think of how accessible the place is, and about how many people a day will find it (roughly) - the less visible the competition, the better!
III: "Flipping"
Flipping, or Flip Merchanting is when you buy something low, and sell it high.
From our previous example, we can get some solar panels for $45, and the average price is $75.
Find a nice price after some more looking around, I'll be using $55 as an example.
Set up your shop, stock up and do some advertising!
Never say your prices are "decent" or "slightly under average", people want the cheapest they know of!
Also, never tell them the price direct - especially if they're looking for a good deal, they can't tell until they are at your shop, which they can look around even if they don't want your panels!
IV: Profit!
If you did this all successfully, you should now have a lot of money. From this point, you could continue safe and make a steadier profit with your money (flipping), or you could start with something different (from solar panels to LV solar arrays).
Good luck with your future endeavors!

- Ignore and continue
- Buy as many as possible and attempt to flip
