On 2 occasions i've marked the land I want only for it to tell me that it overlaps with someone else. It takes my money then tells me i'm overlapping. Come on I work really hard for nothing  $2000 down fix please? |

Sorry to hear that martin, but it is necessary to keep regions from overlapping.
To make sure that this won't happen, walk around the perimeter of the area you want to claim with a piece of string. If you right click on a block it tells you if the region is owned or not!
Think of this as surveying your property before purchase!
If someone is okay your your regions overlapping, ask them to add you as an owner before you claim. It will allow you to overlap the regions.
