Zbolt started working on a station for Moon Springs but I don't know its current status. I'm still interested in helping out with both rails and an ice road. I already have ice on the main roads in my town. I have a lot more iron now too so I can contribute to the rails. I gave the stacks I had to Zbolt already.

I found that the rail carts, and to an extent the rails themselves, to be extremely sensitive. The rails would stop randomly, or go really slow at certain points along the track. Also, I had a problem with mine carts just disappearing, I don't know what caused that. And then there is the problem where carts will explode if they go too fast over a certain track, or turn. The last problem is the price. Tracks are WAY too expensive in railcraft. You need a coal coke oven, iron, wood, charcoal, creosote oil, and a rolling machine just to make iron tracks. Making H.S. rails costs a lot more. I guess you could scavenge the tracks from mineshafts, but that would take just as long, and those tracks would need to powered more than H.S. rails. I would love to connect towns or what not to MoonSprings, but we would have to pool some serious resources.

I'll try to make a map of the server, If that helps.

A map would be great.
I figured out where my station will be and started placing rails. I'm going to build it at level 70 because I think it's cooler if it's on the surface where people can see it. The only problem is that I'm near a lot of other regions so I'll either have to get them to put rails down too or go around them which could get messy.

Its rendering. 300,466 tiles; its been going at it for hours. I'm not entirely sure how I'm going to make it so everyone can see it...

I recomend untill the map is availabl that you arp to each town, and make a waypoint, thiswill give you the direction of where to start placing your rails, may i suggest that we make rails like cables/wires and pipes? that itt is considered griefing to take rails? unless of course they are in mineshaft, this is purely due to th large number of players who dont use forums, and wont know what we are trying to achieve. Also yes, rails are hard to make, but i believe through intensive scavenging and pooling of resources, we can achieve this. The scavenging may even be fun

A big question is, do we want a round-robin type system? or a central hub. Both have merits, but a central Hub might be better for reducing average travel time I know that the Crag and Gath are quite close together, but alot of other towns are very far apart. I'd suggest a central hub, with smaller routes organised between towns if there's need/they are close?

I agree with the idea of a central hub, would be easier in my opinion then having the round robin.

It might just be easier to compile a list of the train station locations, and then we can make a coordinate map, then link it all together? I'd be willing to do something like that if provided with the coordinates - Vralka

hey Gn, may I sugest something for your map problems? I know nothing about it but I have used a few, its called dynmap, although this could help along stealing as people would know where people have built, any way here it is. (didnt know if I should post this in suggestions or here?) dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/dynmap/We had that plugin for quite a while. Problem is I have a SSD and limited storage form my host. The dynmap was over 10GB almost 2 months ago.

Can I suggest that we sell minecarts at each trainstation for $2 each? This is so the cost isn't much at all, and players might consider taking the train instead of warping everywhere. It would ensure that our trains get some use - Vralka

$2 each is a really good deal. Almost too good, looking at the fact its 5 iron ingots. BAM! ingots for $0.40 each!

Zbolt, remember, you cant recycle anylonger, so it is stuck as the minecart. All i see hhepening is people not using it due to warps. maybe donnyh13 is right a charge could be implemented on all warps, maybe $3? that way the trainstation could be a cheaper version of travel? With a free warp only to the station.
