The command will be the same, /claim <region_name>, but how it works will be different.
Claiming any size region anywhere with any name (up to 500k) will cost 2000.
Claiming a region with "town" (e.g. mytown, the_best_town2) in the name will cost 3000. Claiming a region with at least one of the points picked in a "town" region will cost much less, pricing as follows:
Blocks claimed : Cost
<65 : $250
65 > 8000 : $750
8000 > 50,000: $1000
> 50,000 : $1500
The prices will be previewed before the plot is actually bought (the command asks you to confirm your purchase, it tells you how many blocks are picked and how much it will cost. You will type /confirm to agree and buy it.)
Remember, those costs only apply to regions claimed in a town. FYI, the vast majority of houses in towns on the server fit in the $750 range. Very large mansions would be in the $1000 range and the $1500 would be for claiming new town sections (half off from the original, woo!)
Discuss. This still open to ideas, but I would like it added asap. Also any town owners that do NOT have their plots called "town" we need to talk... The naming scheme is very important now with the auto pricing and promotions. We will have to rename/redefine your regions if your existing town does not fit this. Either PM me or post here if this is you.
